Fugitives throw objects at Bahrain official in London

Manama : A group of Bahraini fugitives in London hurled objects at Brigadier General Ahmed Al Asiri, the spokesperson of Arab Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen, during his visit to London.

This is the second time GCC officials are being attacked by Bahraini fugitives in London. Earlier in January, Bahraini Ambassador to the UK Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa and other officials were verbally assaulted and harassed at the doorsteps of the Kingdom's embassy in London.

The group on Thursday  verbally assaulted Al Asiri, who is in London to hold talks with the European Council. They also hurled objects at him before and the accompanying  deligation before the guards stopped them and referred the matter to the police.

The group included individuals wanted for terror related crimes in the Kingdom and currently seeking asylum in the UK. Some of them got their citizenships revoked due to the severity of their crimes.

The act was widely condemned by Bahraini politicians, MPs and columnists, who described it as “cowardly acts of Iran’s followers”.

It’s noteworthy that Al Asiri is an adviser at the Saudi Defence Ministry and the official spokesperson of the Saudi-led Arab Coalition to restore legitimacy in Yemen. Bahrain has been part of the coalition since it was formed in 2014 and over 10 Bahraini soldiers have been martyred since then.
