Molestation of cow: Court upholds prison sentence

Manama : The third High Criminal Court has upheld a court ruling awarding a three months imprisonment and deportation of a Bangladeshi man for ‘trespassing’ and ‘molesting’ a cow in a private farm in Sitra.

According to court files, the 27-year-old was caught red-handed by a Bahraini farm owner in Mahazza village in Sitra in an “inappropriate state” with a cow inside the farm. The Bahraini then reported the case to Sitra police station. There, the accused told the police that he only reached Bahrain two months ago before the incident occurred and that he did not know who his sponsor was and that he had not met him. The man also confessed to his crime at the police station.

Court files showed that the man lived in a labour camp in Mahazza village in Sitra and that he worked at an automobile workshop.

The Public Prosecution charged the man on February 14 for ‘trespassing.’ He was sentenced to three months imprisonment and deportation after he completes his jail term. He filed an appeal against the verdict, which was upheld by the Third High Criminal Court on Thursday.
