Volunteers remove piles of trash in beach cleanup
Manama : Volunteers yesterday removed piles of trash from Karbabad beach in the northwest of Manama as part of a national campaign to clean up the beaches of the Capital.
The campaign, under the patronage of the Governor of Capital Governorate Shaikh Hesham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, comes within the “Green Capital” initiative launched by the Governorate in cooperation with local companies and civil society institutions.
Shaikh Hesham reaffirmed the governorate’s keenness on continuing the national environmental initiative, raising awareness on the importance of protecting the environment and supporting community partnership.
“Coasts are connected to the roots of the people of Bahrain as it was the source of income for their ancestors. They are also a favoured destination for all segments of the community for entertainment and relaxation,” the governor commented.
