Rafting for a good cause
Manama : The 39th edition of Rotary Club of Sulmaniya’s Raft Race held on Friday raised more than BD25000 towards charity.
The theme of this year’s race which took place at Al Bander Resort and Spa in Sitra was to fight cancer and the funds collected will be used to help cancer patients.
“The turn out was really good despite fears of bad weather. We really appreciate the support of our teams and sponsors. We hope every year will be a great success as this one. Rotary will use the money raised for projects helping those afflicted with cancer,” Rotary Club of Sulmaniya’s incoming president Yusuf Fakhro and the head of the Raft Race organising committee said.
Twenty one teams participated this year in the men’s and mixed teams race. The men’s teams raced in the open sea whereas the mixed raced in the lagoon. The race was followed by an awards ceremony.
