Cockroach infested restaurant closed
Manama : A restaurant in the Capital was shutdown by the authorities here recently citing major public health hazard.
The inspection teams at the Public Health Directorate in Health Ministry locked down the restaurant for cockroach infestation after finding an online footage showing insects roaming inside the place. Food Monitoring Department Head Mohammed Al Haddag confirmed the action was taken after verifying the correctness of the information circulated on social media networks.
“As per the instructions of Primary Care and Public Health Assistant Undersecretary Dr. Mariam Al Hajery, the infested restaurant was closed at once, considering the risk,” Al Haddag said.
The official also called upon people to report any such complaints on food safety to the ministry’s official channels and 39427743.
He asserted that “this would help ensure hygienic environment inside restaurants at a level appropriate to serve consumers.”
Al Haddag, however, did not reveal the name of the restaurant.
