Bahrain bags two medals in Skydiving World Challenge 2017

Manama  : Bahrain’s parachutes team won two medals at the Bodyflight Indoor Skydiving World Challenge 2017 in Milton Ernest, Bedfordshire in the UK, with the ‘B’ team clinching a gold medal in the level 4 competition, while the ‘A’ team a silver in Level 2 (AA).

This was Bahrain’s best achievement in this type of sport, with their second best record being a gold medal in Level 3 (A) in the 2014 edition championship.

Spearheading Bahrain were Khalid Meshreh, Nasser Abdulla, Hussain Ahmed and Ahmed Al Thawadi (Team ‘A’) and Younes Al Dossary, Abdulrahim Dawood, Khalifa Al Najjar and Ammar Muthana (Team ‘B’).

Other Bahrain delegation members were manager Mohammed Malalla, treasurer Mohammed Al Dossary and umpire Yasser Hameed.

More than 250 competitors from 63 countries competed in what was said to be the world’s largest indoor skydiving event in a vertical wind tunnel.

The chamber was 5m (16.4ft) wide and 8m (26.25ft) high and wind speeds reaching upto 180mph (290 km/ph). Each team performed a series of synchronised moves during their respective routine.
