Bahrain National Hockey League to be held this month

ManamaBahrain Hockey, the official governing body for field hockey in Bahrain will launch its first official Bahrain National Hockey League this month and aimed at introducing regular field hockey events for teams based in the Kingdom.

The league will be spread across five weeks from April 21 to June 2 and is open to all Bahrain based senior teams with matches played at St Christopher’s Senior School in Isa Town.

Registration fee is BD100 per team and the format is Six-a-Side played under the guidelines and regulations of the Bahrain Hockey Technical Committee and open to a maximum of six teams  with the last date for team registration April 19.

Saleem Elyas, Bahrain Hockey President said, “We are very happy to conduct this event and are focused on promoting hockey and having increased participation from players on the island among all age groups and thank Bahrain Olympic Committee for their full cooperation in supporting our vision.”

The league announcement follows a major milestone for Bahrain Hockey with the Kingdom’s debut at the Asian Hockey Congress on March 29 hosted by the Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) and Oman Hockey Association in Muscat, where Bahrain Hockey was awarded the Best Promising Member by Tayyab Ikram, CEO (AHF) to Elyas.
