GT3 challenge: Frijins fastest

Manama : Charlie Frijins (two minutes, 5.714 seconds) of the Netherlands in the gold category driving for Frijins Structural Steel ME was the fastest and finished top of the qualifying standings for today’s 11th Round of the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East 2016/17 after driving six laps yesterday, which is a support race to the 2017 Formula One Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix at the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir.

Second fastest was Luxembourg’s Dylan Pereira  (2:05.869) also in the gold category also drove six laps, while third was Oman’s Al Faisal Al Zubair (2:05.918) in the silver category and a GCC Rookie also drove six laps.

Fourth to sixth places went to Ryan Cullen (IRL, 2:06.186, gold), Bandar Alesayi (KSA, 2:06.307, silver) and Team Bahrain’s GCC Rookie Isa Abdulla Al Khalifa (BRN, 2:06.977, bronze) respectively.

Rounding out the top eight was Phillip Sager (AUT, 2:07.416, bronze) in seventh and Magnus Ohman (SWE, 2:07.473, Team Sweden).

Hamad Al Khalifa (2:07.524, Team Bahrain, silver) came in ninth and tenth was Isa Abdulla Al Khalifa (2:07.559, Team Bahrain, silver).

Earlier in the practice session, the top three were Al Zubair (2:07.599, 12 laps), Cullen (2:08.192) and Frijins (2:08.611). Today the championship 11th round flags off at 11.55am and is over 10 laps or a 25 minute time limit.

This championship concludes tomorrow after Bahrain hosted the opening round, Dubai held the second and third rounds, Abu Dhabi the fourth with Bahrain the fifth and final one this weekend.
