Leclerk clinches F2 race
Manama : Charles Leclerk of Monaco (43 minutes 01.023 seconds driving for PREMA Racing clinched Race 2 of the opening round of the 2017 FIA Formula 2 Championship race of the season yesterday, which is in support of the 2017 Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix at the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir.
Starting third on the grid, Leclerc completed the 23 lap race over 124.230 kms 1,569 seconds ahead of Russia’s Luca Ghotto of RUSSIAN TIME who started second on the grid, while the third and final podium place went to Britain’s Oliver Rowland (+2.898) for the (DAMS team.
Fourth to six places went to Nicholes Latifi, CAN, DAMS, +7.575), Jordan King (GBR, MP Motorsport, +9.962), and Nyck De Vries (NED, Rapax, +10.865).
Four other drivers picked up points after finishing seventh to tenth Alexander Albon (THA, ART Grand Prix, +18.953) Artem Markelov (RUS, RUSSIAN TIME, +18.953), Johnny Cecotto VEN, Rapax, +11.382), and Antonio Fuoco (ITA, PREMA Racing +19.983).
The fastest lap was recorded by Brazilian Sergio Sette Camara (1:43.950) on lap 22 driving for MP Motorsport.
After this weekend, 10 more rounds are scheduled for Spain, Monaco, Azerbaijan, Austria, UK, Hungary, Belgium, Italy, Spain and concluding on November 25-26 at the Yas Marina Circuit for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
