iGA releases frequency plan

ManamaThe Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) Wireless Licensing, Frequencies and Monitoring Directorate has released the National Frequency Plan (NFP) that covers all frequency spectrum bands in the Kingdom.

The plan, which includes an illustrative chart, will act as a technical reference for all radio-communication users in the Kingdom along with international creators and developers of telecommunication systems, the authority said in a statement.

Available in an online version on Bahrain.bh, this document is in line with the recommendations of the 4th National Telecommunications Plan as well as the outcomes of the 2015 World Radiocommunication Conference.

The plan, according to the authority, can be used as a reference guide to manage the spectrum as it provides information on the radiocommunication services permitted in all frequency bands in Bahrain.  It is worth noting that the committee was established in 2008 and was recently reformed. The committee - chaired by iGA Chief Executive Mohammed Ali AlQaed - comprises representatives from ten governmental entities including the Ministry of Interior, National Security Agency, Bahrain Defense Force, Ministry of Transportation & Telecommunications, Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, Ministry of Information Affairs, National Guard accompanied by the Information & eGovernment Authority.
