Abu Gazal Garden cleaned

ManamaThe issue of water logging and foul odour at a public park in Zinj has been solved, authorities informed yesterday.

A water pipe leakage had  caused a stench at Abu Gazal Garden to the annoyance of park visitors on Friday. However, the authorities were quick to solve the issue as the water was drained off in the morning yesterday. The odour was caused by unclean water which was logging at the play area of the park. According to visitors, this did not stop children from playing there.

“The water covered a significant area of the play area. Some children still went to play there. I was with my daughter at the time but we returned after seeing the condition of the park,” said Muraleedaran, who visited the park on Friday evening.

Head of Parks and Gardens Directorate at the Capital Municipal Council Ahmed Showaiter confirmed to DT News that the issue has been solved.

“We have seen similar incidents there in the past and each time we have solved the issue,” he said. He revealed that the issue was caused by a nearby restaurant. “We have written to the restaurant and they have agreed to comply with our guidelines.

Park visitors said yesterday that the stench was not noticeable yesterday. “I am not aware about the clogging issue as I do not come here often and I have only come today after a long time. I have not noticed any sort of a stench and obviously there has not been any water logging issues today,” said Ismael who visited the park yesterday.
