Building bonds of bilateral ties

ManamaHis MajestyKing Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa arrived Malaysia yesterday on a four-day official visit at the invitation of Sultan Muhammad V.  

The King was welcomed by Malaysian Defence Minister, Head of Mission of Honour, Hishammuddin Hussein, Deputy Foreign Minister Reezal Merican Naina Merican, Bahrain Ambassador to Thailand Adel Youssef Sater and Malaysian Ambassador to Bahrain Ajus Salim Haji Yusof at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport. 

HM the King hailed fraternal relations and fruitful ties binding the two countries, which reflect joint keenness on expanding cooperation towards achieving mutual interests. 

“We take great pride in our deep-rooted, robust relations and productive cooperation between our countries,” HM the King said in his arrival statement. 

HM the King will hold talks with Malaysian Prime Minister Muhammad Najib Abdul Razak on strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation. The two sides will also review regional and international developments and issues of mutual interest. 

“The Kingdom and its sister Malaysia are two development models that are successful and influential in their regional and international environment. This increases our ambitions for more diversified bilateral relations and supports our aspirations for closer cooperation.”

Visit to boost strategic cooperation

The official visit of HM the King to Malaysia  is a great impetus for the growing political and economic partnership between the two countries built on bonds of friendship, mutual respect and constant keenness on supporting Islamic issues,  Information Affairs Minister Ali bin Mohammed Al Rumaihi told Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) yesterday. Expressing optimism about the outcome of the Bahrain-Malaysian meetings, Al Rumaihi said it would consolidate the political and strategic cooperation, which has been growing steadily since diplomatic ties was established from 1974.

“Our people and our leaders deeply value the steady and fraternal Malaysian stances supporting the security and stability, development progress and democratic practices of Bahrain, siding with the Kingdom in protecting its Gulf and Arab security and in rejecting foreign interference in its domestic affairs,” Al Rumaihi  said.
