FOOD SAFETY, FUNDAMENT FOR SAFE HEALTH SYSTEM
Bahrain’s Minister of Health Sadiq Al Shehabi presided over the closing ceremony of the Ministry of Health and Lulu Hypermarket World Health Day 2015 celebrations. The ceremony, held at the Ramli Mall, marked the end of a month-long programme at various health centres and schools across the Kingdom and reached out to the public with several activities that emphasized the theme of Food Safety.
The Ministry had arranged for children of government schools to participate in contests that would take home the message of healthy eating, hygiene in food preparation. Throughout April, there have been activities such as exhibitions, talks and contests.
In his speech, the minister thanked Lulu Hypermarket for its partnership of the activities, saying the partnership helped the ministry to drive home the importance of food safety and hygiene to a larger public.
“Bahrain sets very high standards for health. Food safety is one of the cornerstones of a healthy and safe public health system,” the Minister said, “The Ministry thanks Lulu Hypermarket for its generous partnership of a public platform to drive home this message.”
The Minister inaugurated and toured an exhibition featuring companies which promote hygiene and food safety and Lulu Hypermarket’s display of organic vegetables and fruits.
The Regional Director of Lulu Hypermarket, Juzer Rupawala expressed his thanks to the Ministry and said Lulu set great store by high standards of hygiene.
“To take the message of good health to the public is a service that we are proud to be a part of. The Ministry has worked with Lulu Hypermarket to use many innovative channels to engage the public in this message of good health. We have used our spaces and our community presence to support the Ministry,” Rupawala said.
