Shaikh Khalid congratulates Al Malkiya, Al Najma clubs

Manama : HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Athletics Association, sent a congratulatory telegram to the board members, players and supporters of Al Malkiya Sports and Cultural Club, on the occasion of the club’s team winning the Bahrain VIVA Football League for season 2016/2017 and its first in the history of the club.

Al Malkiya secured its maiden title following a 2-2 draw with Al Najma, while Al Hidd ended Muharraq’s hopes with a 3-2 win as the season winds down with one round remaining.

Standings (after 17 rounds): Al Malkiya (33 points), Muharraq (29), Manama (29), Riffa (28), Hidd (28), East Riffa (19), Al Ahli (19), Al Bahrain (16), Al Najma (16), Al Hala (13).

Separately, Shaikh Khalid also congratulated the players and all members of the management of Al Najma Sports and Cultural Club, on the occasion of its volleyball team winning the First Division of the Bahrain Volleyball Championship for the 2016/17 season.

Al Najma won the best of three finals 2-1 with a decisive (3-0) 26-24, 25-23, 25-23 victory over Al Ahli in the third game, while Dar Kulaib finished in third place after a 3-2 win over Al Muharraq.
