WOMEN TAME MANLY BIKES!

The enthusiasm of hitting roads on weekends is on the rise in Bahrain, it seems, as the authorities have also confirmed a dramatic increase in the number of motorcycle licence aspirants in the past few years. And to accommodate them, the national driving school in Bahrain has improved its facilities. It may be noted the trend in preferences is also shifting from cars to two-wheelers.

The driving schools are witnessing a spike in the number of people applying for two-wheeler licences, revealed Public Security Drivers Training School Head Major Rashid Musbah.

“Until a few years ago, hardly anyone applied for two-wheeler licences.  During those times, there were also very few two wheelers on the roads and the only ones we saw were either delivery boys or bike enthusiasts. Now, not only have the number of enthusiasts increased, we also see more people using motorcycles as a means of transportation,” Major Musbah was quoted as telling Interior Ministry’s publication Al Amn.

He said 5 per cent of the trainees are woman.

The interesting thing is that they prefer to get trained on the geared vehicles even though they may drive only smaller scooters after obtaining the license, Major Musbah commented.

“The initial success rate among first time riders is not high, but those who have handled two wheelers in their respective countries normally pass in the first attempt,” he added.
