Inter School Cricket: New Millennium win

ManamaNew Millennium School defeated Rest of the Schools by 109 runs in the opening match of the Under-16 Inter School Cricket Championship at the National Stadium ground in Riffa.

Batting first, New Millennium School piled up a huge score of 200 for four in 20 overs with the skipper Jagan (131 not out of 74 deliveries) scoring the first century of the tournament with good support from Vijaya Kumar.

In reply, Rest of the Schools could only score 91 for seven in its 20 overs with the captain Sachiru Ajith (25) top scoring while Anirudh and Ekanth both picking up a couple of wickets each.

Eight teams are participating in the tournament with the best players selected to the Bahrain National Under 16 team for the ICC –Western Region (ACC) tournament in Qatar in September 2017.

1)Pakistan School 148/3 (Zulfiqar 62 retd, Furkan 19, Hameed 15 no, Mikhail 2/13) bt British School (Combined) 147 in 20 overs (George Axtel 29, Sinan Saif 28, Thushar Shetty 27) by four wickets. 

2)The Indian School 95/1 in 16 overs (Shivkrishnan 41, Anuj Ramesh 25) bt Bahrain 94 (Sahilpreet Singh 4/10, Mohammed.Mufliah, Adnan Khan and Karan Rawal with 2 wickets each) by nine wickets.
