Tourism in focus at SKAL congress
Manama : Bahrain is hosting the 46th SKAL Asia Area Congress at the Gulf Hotel with the participation of businessmen, experts and members of SKAL from all around the globe.
The conference which began on 11 May sheds light on the latest trends in the tourism sector and the challenges faced, and also offers a platform for trade opportunities and potential partnerships. The event held under the patronage of Shaikh Khalid bin Humood Al Khalifa, the Chief Executive Officer of Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) concludes tomorrow.
The SKAL organisation is a professional body headquartered in Spain, and consists of senior members and experts in the tourism, travel, and hospitality industry within its club in Bahrain and international counterparts. The 46th Asia Area Congress coincides also with the 45th year anniversary of the SKAL club since its inception in Bahrain in 1972.
The congress was attended by David Fisher, the President of SKAL international and Robert Sohn, the President of SKAL - Asian Area. The event attracted around 120 members, including 70 from the Asian continent, as well as participants from Argentina, Canada and the United Kingdom, and 50 local businessmen.
“The event further affirms the role played by the Kingdom since joining this international organisation and its continuous efforts to develop the tourism sector at local, regional and international levels,” said the Chief Executive Officer of the BTEA, Shaikh Khalid bin Humood Al Khalifa.
“This also comes as a great opportunity to showcase the strengths of the tourism sector in Bahrain which is expected to remain an integral part in developing and generating further growth within the economy,” said Mohamed Buzizi, President of SKAL Bahrain.
