Gulf Sports Expo opens today

Manama : Gulf Sports Expo, the largest sports exhibition in the Kingdom, will open its doors to the public at 11am today at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Conference Centre.

The three-day event is being held under the patronage of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee.

The annual expo is being organised by HANO Consultancy in association with the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs, and Gulf Air.

The event is expected to bring sports icons, local and international athletes, sports industry professionals, organisations, and enthusiasts from Bahrain, the GCC, and other Arab countries under one roof.

Over 30 companies are participating this year, with global brands showcasing their latest products, equipment, and technologies from the world of sports. There will also be a display of healthy and nutritious food.

“Gulf Sports Expo is the first event of its kind in Bahrain, and it’s a realisation of long-held strategies by the Ministry to enrich the sports infrastructure in the Kingdom and keep it up to date with the latest in the world of sports. It aims to reinforce Bahrain’s position as a prime host for the exhibitions and conferences industry by creating an interactive environment between sports brands and enthusiasts, while also raising awareness about the importance of health and fitness. The Ministry will be committed to organising more events of this nature in the future as part of its long-term strategy to advance the Kingdom’s sports sector,” Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs’ Assistant Undersecretary for Sports and Facilities Affairs, Khalid Saleem Al Haj said.

“Our main idea for the event is that in the coming years we want it to cover the entire GCC, not just Bahrain. Also to do an event like this it takes a lot of effort so I would like to thank everyone who is involved to ensure that the expo is a success. We believe that the changing nature of sports will be a massive boon to our Kingdom’s reputation in the sports world,” HANO Managing Director, Fawaz Bager said.

The expo has also partnered with Bahrain Cricket Festival, an event that is organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs in cooperation with Bahrain Cricket Academy. Cricket stars will be present at the exhibition, where tickets to the festival will be sold.

“Bahrain Cricket Festival is a way of uniting professional and international cricketers through exciting matches, and creating a unique atmosphere similar to the one that this expo is creating,” Bahrain Cricket Academy Chairman Aref Sadeq said.
