International Book Fair and Cultural Fest opened

ManamaThe International Book Fair and Cultural Fest organised by Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam and DC Books was inaugurated by Dr. Shashi Tharoor, former UN Under Secretary General and Member of Indian Parliament at Segaya BKS DJ Hall yesterday.  

Shaikh Khalifa bin Daij Al Khalifa, President of HRH Crown Prince’s Court, Anand Prakash, Second Secretary Indian Embassy, P V Radhakrishnan, Ravi Deecee, M K Veeramani and other dignitaries were present at the inaugural function. 

‘Era of Darkness’, written by Shashi Tharoor on the British empire in India, was released at the function.  The ten-day-long event will feature a book fair, cultural fest and children’s competition. The fest will also be graced by prominent litterateurs and renowned personalities like Dr. Vandana Siva, writers Dr. K S Ravikumar, Manoj Kuroor and career guru B.S Warrier.

Seminars, interactive sessions and literature workshops will be held during the festival. Story writing competitions, colouring and painting, poem writing and book cover designing will be conducted for school children.

Current Books, Manorama, Mathrubhumi, Sankeerthanam, Olive, Penguin, HarperCollins, Oxford University Press and Random House among others will display their books at the Fair. DC Books will exhibit books from various genres --- stories, poems, novels, children’s literature and self-help books among others. The fair will have titles for bibliophiles to choose from a variety of categories like fiction, non-fiction, novels, short stories, management and cookery.  A special section has been arranged for children of all age groups. A wide range of classics, folklores, adventures and comics will be displayed in this section.
