BTEA holds embroidery workshop for RCO
Manama : The Bahrain Tourism and Exhibition Authority (BTEA) Handicrafts Directorate held a graduation ceremony for the participants of the second edition of the embroidery workshop for the Royal Charity Organisation (RCO).
The ceremony held at the Al Jasrah Handicrafts Centre was attended by the Assistant Secretary General for Planning Resource Development of RCO, Yousef Abdullah Al-Yaqoob, and other officials.
The workshop presented by the trainer, Sakina Al Qafas, focused on providing basic skills of embroidery, techniques and the method of employing its various tools and types. A total of 12 candidates from the Royal Charity Organisation participated in the workshop, which ran for a period of three weeks starting 23 April.
“We are pleased to coordinate with the Royal Charity Organisation to graduate a new batch of trainees in the art of hand embroidery and to contribute to the spread of this traditional craft in the society,” said the Director of Handicrafts Directorate at the BTEA, Shaikha Wafa bint Saif Al Khalifa.
