Traffic violations declined by 75 per cent: Interior Minister
Manama : Traffic violations have declined 75 per cent in the past two months, according to Interior Minister Lieutenant General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa.
Chairing the Traffic Council meeting yesterday, the minister asserted the importance of promoting traffic safety for all road users. Traffic accidents have also seen considerable decline, he said.
The meeting approved the speed limits of main and sub-roads to meet the requirements of traffic flow and safety, in a way to reduce traffic violations and ensure law enforcement.
The meeting was attended by council members Education Minister Dr. Majid Al Nuaimi, Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister Essam Khalaf and Transportation and Telecommunications Minister Kamal Ahmed.
Shaikh Rashid expressed thanks and appreciation to the council’s members for their efforts to meet traffic safety, highlighting the importance of readiness to control traffic flow and fast steps to deal with traffic jams and accidents in accordance with the law.
