In line with this year’s theme, Let journalism thrive towards better reporting, gender equality and safety in the digital age, the Premier, in his message to the world, highlighted the need to support and strengthen discreet journalism especially in this era of rapidly developing technology and increasingly diversifying news and information sources.
The Premier also called upon journalists and media personnel to exert more effort by taking pride in Bahrain’s developed and responsible press and urged to develop a sound media and journalistic climate that paves way for a new generation of highly professional journalists and media persons.
Prince Khalifa stressed that choosing May 7 to celebrate Bahrain Press Day, in line with the royal directives, is a tribute to Bahraini journalists and media personnel for their outstanding contributions towards the nation’s development march.
HRH the Premier described the World Press Freedom Day as an opportunity to further support the press and media work and its role in promoting noble values and defending people’s right for a decent, secure and stable life.
“Growing political, security, economic and cultural challenges all over the world necessitate a responsible press and media role that is based on credibility and objectivity,” he said.
