RELIGIOUS LEADERS MEET TO DISCUSS WORLD PEACE

After hosting an interfaith conference earlier this week in Bahrain, an international peace organization said it plans to hold more such initiatives to promote peace and unity in the Middle East.

Twenty-five Bahrain-based religious leaders from various faiths including Islam, Sikhism, Judaism and Christianity came together recently for an interfaith conference held under the topic Peace in the Scriptures and shared their ideas on ways of strengthening the unity in society.

It was held by the international peace organization Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (“HWPL”). HWPL is internationally acclaimed for its role in promoting inter-religious understanding. The organization confirmed yesterday Bahrain would be one of its main platforms for promoting peace and religious tolerance in the middle east. HWPL stated the conference is only its first step in promoting peace in Bahrain and the region. More such conferences, organized by HWPL is expected to take place in Bahrain.

During the conference, Jewish Representative Ebrahim Dawood emphasized the important responsibilities of religious leaders in establishing world peace. Sharing a similar view, Discover Islam Chairman Muhammed Zuhair said, “This interfaith meeting would be a great starting point for achieving peace. I hope more people will participate next time,” he said.

“The seed of peace was planted in the Middle East, the initiation took place on April 25 in Manama, Bahrain. The goal of the conference was to promote coexistence and tolerance between different faiths,” HWPL said in a statement yesterday.
