ManamaThe organizing committee of the third edition of the Khalid Bin Hamad Youth Theatre Festival for National Clubs, Youth Centres and People with Disabilities has approved the mascot of the festival, which will be held under the patronage of the His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Athletics Association.

To be held from October 5-17, under the slogan “Painting_A_Smile”, the festival is one of the generous initiatives of His Highness in supporting youth in cultural and humanitarian fields, organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports in cooperation with the Media Office of HH Shaikh Khalid Bin Hamad Al Khalifa. The festival shows will be held at the Muharraq Model Youth Centre.

The committee adopted Basma (Smile) as the festival’s mascot, so that the smile would always be present on all participants. The character was drawn by the Bahraini artist Turki Rashid.

The selection was based on the festival’s objectives, which primarily aim to instil the values of love, goodness and nobility in the hearts of youth by painting a smile on all participants, those interested and the leaders of theatre, which has become an important cultural platform in society.

The festival’s organizing committee has announced a significant increase in the sponsorship of participating clubs and centres by 100 per cent .
