Al Asfoor, Boutagy triumph
Manama : Ali Al Asfoor and Roy Boutagy defeated Kadri and Ahmed Rizk in the first round-robin Group 1 matches in The Late Majid Al Zayani Cup - Super Doubles at the Bahrain Tennis Club Ramadan Tournament 2017 at its premises in Juffair.
Ahmed Janahi and Salman Hassan also got off to a good start in the same group with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Emad Ali and Yousif Fakhro.
Meanwhile in Group 2 matches, Mahmood Janahi and Abdul Rahman Janahi were 6-2, 6-1 winners over Karim Hajar and Khalid Janahi, while Nalan Chokappa and Sundara Ram ran out 6-3, 6-3 winners over Ashraf Atabani and Ahmed Jaffar.
In an outstanding match in The Late Yousif Khalil Al Moayyed Cup, Mohab Mangoud and Islam Abo Alam had to work hard to overcome Amin and Mohammed Sharaf 7-6 (7-2), 6-0.
This competition comprises six doubles matches per round in the round-robin format with players divided into three groups.
