Former Indian Ambassador to Bahrain dies

ManamaFormer Indian Ambassador to Bahrain Dr George Joseph passed away yesterday.

Dr. Joseph, who hails from Kottayam district of Kerala, served in Bahrain from January 2009 till October 2010. He had also worked as a diplomat in several countries including Qatar, Saudi Arabia and UAE. He retired from Civil Service in 2010 in Bahrain. George Joseph is survived by wife Rani and daughter Renu. His funeral will be held on Saturday.

“We are saddened to learn about the demise of our senior colleague who was a very active person. He was sick for a while before he passed away. He will always be remembered for his work, especially his contributions to the improvement of India-Bahrain relations during his tenure as Ambassador,” said Indian Ambassador Alok Kumar Sinha. Dr. George Joseph was an exceptional individual. He was instrumental in conceptualizing and organising Spectra, Annual Painting Carnival to generate funds for ICRF community activities, which helped thousands of underprivileged individuals, Indian Community Relief Fund (ICRF) Chairman Bhagwan Asarpota and  General Secretary Aruldas Thomas said. 

ICRF, in association with Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam, will hold a condolence meeting at Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam at 10.30am today.
