Bahrain 47th in talent ranking
Manama : Bahrain has been ranked 47th in Global Talent Competitiveness Index (GTCI), an index which measures the nation’s ability to attract and develop talent.
Along with UAE, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia, Bahrain was ranked in the top 50. The study analysed each country’s talent and its readiness for future work. The study was conducted by Graduate Business School INSEAD in collaboration with Centre for Economic Growth and Google. In the GCC, UAE (19), Qatar (21), Saudi Arabia (42) ranked above Bahrain. Lower on the Index were Kuwait (57) and Oman (59). Other countries ranked in the Middle East include Lebanon (62) and Tunisia (77), Egypt (88), Morocco (96) and Algeria (107). Globally, Switzerland is ranked top and was followed by Singapore, UK, US and Sweden, in the top five.
“From a demographic point of view, the MENA region is younger than the rest of the world, which is both a blessing and a challenge. On one hand, there is energy, creativity and ambition in the new generation; on the other hand, creating enough jobs for them is an urgent necessity,” said Dr Bruno Lanvin, executive director – global indices, INSEAD.
“Technology is a critical dimension of this challenge as the jobs of the future need to be thought of in areas such as artificial intelligence, virtual and augmented reality, and life-long continuous upskilling. Now is the time for governments to implement the required policies to take advantage of the opportunities at hand to support entrepreneurship, competitiveness and innovation across the whole region,” he said.
