Passport hurdle for ailing newborn baby
Manama : After successfully gathering funds for his newborn baby’s surgery, Ahmed Saleh, the father of the baby with a congenital heart disease, is now running from pillar to post for a passport to treat the ailing child overseas.
The kid is admitted at Salmaniya Medical Complex at the paediatrics intensive care unit and has to undergo surgery immediately.
“My baby doesn’t have a passport. Being Egyptians, I checked with the Egypt Embassy to issue him a passport or transfer the birth details to either my passport or my wife’s, but the authorities refused to do so.”
“After running around so much and losing valuable time, I was forced to sent all the documents to my father in Egypt so that the officials in Egypt can issue him a passport, and we just hope that it happens quickly. Because my baby’s health is getting worse day-by-day. We need to travel soon to save our child’s life.”
“We have generated enough funds for his first surgery and it wouldn’t have been possible without the help of people who came forward and generously donated money,” Ahmed Saleh added.
DT News had previously reported about the family seeking financial aid to save the little boy.
The baby born on May 12 with a heart disease called Hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS), a complex and rare heart defect where the left side of the heart is critically underdeveloped, is now fighting for life at the Salmaniya Medical Complex.
