Interior Minister holds meeting of governors
Manama : Interior Minister, Lt-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa held a meeting with governors in the presence of general coordinators of governorates, on Thursday.
The meeting reviewed projects that are being implemented in various governorates, including Al Ekar area development plan by the Capital Governorate, and strategic work plan of the security committee of the Northern Governorate.
Capital Governor briefed on the Ekar development plan that includes the security and services requirements of the area and the proposal of the governorate to develop roads, as well as programmes to address the social, cultural and entertainment needs of youth.
The Minister hailed the plan, highlighting the importance of urban planning in villages and providing required facilities, which are the priorities of the government.
He affirmed the need to determine the requirements of villagers to provide a decent living by tackling the needs of the public.
The Northern Governor highlighted the proposed strategic work plan of the security committee of the governorate, especially linking social security with sustainable development and reinforcement of good citizenship and strengthening community partnership.
The plan aims to achieve a number of goals, including protection of public and private properties, reinforcement of fire prevention concepts in settlements that lack safety conditions and anti-drug awareness programmes to the youth. The governor highlighted the reactions of the residents on a number of crimes.
He also briefed on the Biout (houses) charity project to change the environmental and living conditions of low income families.
Interior Minister hailed programmes initiated by the Northern Governorate to engage in active partnership with the residents.
The Minister thanked the governors for their efforts in serving the nation, hailing their cooperation and interaction with citizens to address their requirements.
