Top seed Qaed stunned by Sala

ManamaTop seed and Bahrain national team player Yousif Qaed was stunned and beaten by Spaniard Joan Sala who won 6-4, 3-6, 10-1 in men’s singles of The 68th Indian Club Open Tennis Ramadan Tournament at its premises in Gudaibiya.

Bas Loohuis from The Netherlands beat Bahraini Karim Abdul Redha 6-4, 1-6, 10-3, while his compatriot Jasper Meinema lost to Bahraini Elias Abdul Redha 6-0, 6- 4.

In other singles action, Abdul Rahman Janahi received a walkover win from Vineet Venu, Michel Brost another Dutchman beat Indian Club player Stalin Joseph 6-3, 6-1 and Indian youngster Rahul Jaideep beat Serwin Rampersad 6-1, 6-2.

There were walk over wins for Eric Lavaud and Avneet against Isa Sammak and Hassan Abdul Redha.
