Gymnastic, self-defence shows held

ManamaShows displaying special moves in gymnastic and self-defence sports were held in Seef Mall on Thursday as part of the 3rd Nasser bin Hamad Sports Games “Nasser 10” which was witnessed by a large number of spectators who warmly applauded the performances showcased. 

The event began with performances in gymnastic using various devices with the participation of 12 male and 6 female performers. The event was held in collaboration between the Bahrain Gymnastic Association and the Bahrain Self-Defence Federation. The self-defence sports included Taekwondo, Karate, Jodo, Jiu-jitsu and Aikido, featuring 60 players from both genders, who were representing local clubs and national teams. 

President of the Bahrain Gymnastic Association (BGA) Abdullah Al Dosari expressed his appreciation for the efforts being made by HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Olympic Committee to lay the foundation for all sports people to excel in their respected fields. Al Dosari explained that the gymnastic shows that were performed in a modern fashion and considered among the most successful events. 

“The event represented a great opportunity for the participants to showcase their skills in one of the most respected tournaments in the region that carry noble goals,” Al Dosari said.

Ahmed Al Khayat, President of Bahrain Self-Defence Federation, praised the efforts being made by Shaikh Nasser and initiatives launched to develop the sports and youth movements in Bahrain. 

Al Khayat affirmed that Shaikh Nasser has drawn up the developmental strategy for all games in order to raise their levels in line with the interest of upgrading the national clubs to form national teams capable of accomplishing more achievements in various regional and international competitions.
