Work on Jaw school on track

ManamaWork on Jaw Comprehensive School for Girls, the biggest government school in the Kingdom, has achieved 28 per cent progress, according to Ahmed Al Khayyat, Works Affairs Undersecretary of the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning. 

Al Khayyat explained that the dredging and foundation for the elementary, intermediate and secondary stages buildings have been completed, in addition to the multi-purpose hall. The construction of structure for the first and second storeys is presently being implemented. Work on the elementary school building extension has also been completed, together with the external extensions. 

The Ministry prepared the designs and executive drawings for the project from its own internal resources, and is currently managing and supervising implementation of the school. The project is being implemented by the Bahraini/Saudi Consortium of Al Moayed & Nasma Contracting. The government has allocated 50,000m2 land for the school and a construction area of 26,500m2. The school work has 3 phases; elementary, intermediate and secondary phases to accommodate 1440 students.
