No shortage of drugs: Ministry
Manama : Health Ministry has denied any shortage of medicines in Bahrain as rumoured on social media reports.
“The Ministry confirms that what is being circulated about the depletion of the stock of some medicines and linking this issue with the rationalisation of spending is not true,” a statement issued here yesterday read.
The ministry confirmed in its statement that all medicines are disbursed efficiently through health centres and hospitals. The necessary medical and laboratory tests are being conducted without any delay, depending on the health status of each patient.
“During the recent period, some suppliers experienced sudden difficulties due to the merger of some factories for administrative reasons beyond the Ministry’s control. This period was urgently covered by products of the local and Gulf markets,” the ministry explained.
The ministry pointed to the availability of stocks of materials and medicines, as confirmed by the concerned authorities.
The ministry also underlined that it’s strengthening its efforts to provide the best health services to patients and to ensure the smooth flow of their treatment, in compliance with the directives of the wise leadership to provide all medical and therapeutic requirements for patients and to meet their health services without delay. The ministry’s statements followed the spread of reports online, alleging that certain medicines aren’t available in Bahrain and that patients are suffering.
