Toddler found alone, cops look for parents

Manama : A toddler who was found roaming alone in the Capital on Wednesday night is in now in the custody of police officers.

With no missing reports filed, the Ministry of Interior (MOI) has posted the two-year-old’s picture on its official Twitter account, hoping that someone will identify him.

The Ministry has requested people who could recognise the child to contact the Bab Al Bahrain Police Station to help with the investigation.

‘’The two-and-a-half-year-old child was found in Manama Suq. His parents or anyone who knows him should contact the Capital Police,’’ the ministry stated on Twitter yesterday. Speaking to DT News, an MOI officer confirmed that no one has filed any missing person report. He added that the boy’s nationality is yet to be identified.

“The child is wearing a red shirt and a black nicker. He calls for his mom and dad but that is not enough for us to identify what language he speaks or where he is from,” the officer said, adding, “nobody has visited the police station yet to claim the child. He is still here and the investigation is going on. “

“Police have visited the souq and asked the traders for information. But as far as I know the traders here are unaware of the incident. It is possible that one of the visitors to the souq must have lost their child while shopping. This is only speculation. We do not know anything more because we have not seen anyone other than the police asking about a missing child, “ a source from the Manama souq said.
