Deadline set for Futsal League
Manama : The Technical Committee for the fifth edition of the Khalid bin Hamad Futsal League for Youth Centres, People with Disabilities and Girls will organise the second technical meeting at the headquarters of the Bahrain Football Association on June 20.
This committee will be briefed on the rules for the Referee Committee by head of committee, Jassim Mahmoud. In addition, the committee will also handout the list of participating teams in the league, held under the patronage of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Honourary President of Bahrain Disabled Sports Federation, from July 24 till August 23 under the slogan #meeting_of_generations, as the league is part of the sports and humanitarian initiatives, organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs in cooperation with Shaikh Khalid’s Media Office.
The names for girl’s teams that will participate in the girls’ League have been selected. Each team will have to register 12 players, including a goalkeeper. The teams that will participate are named: Determination, Persistence, Challenge, Hope, Tenderness and Will. The teams will be divided into two groups of 3 teams per group. The first and second qualify for the semifinals.
The committee has adopted “Nabil” as the name of the character for the league, which was painted by the Bahraini artist Turki Rashid. The character is based on the best player in the category of people with disabilities in the fourth edition of Khalid Bin Hamad Futsal League for Youth Centres, People with Disabilities 2016, as Nabil Al Dossari was chosen as the best player.
The league will be held this year at the Khalifa Sports City Hall and witness the participation of 36 youth centres out of 36 official centres representing the various cities and villages of the Kingdom of Bahrain. The large and wide participation is continuation of last year’s success which had 23 youth centres participating.
