Miscreants attack public schools
Manama : Miscreants hurled stones and Molotov cocktails at several schools here, causing severe damages to school properties. No one was injured in the incidents.
Confirming the attacks, the Public Relations and Information Directorate in Education Ministry, in a statement, said that four schools were targeted by unknown individuals in the past few days. Police are investigating the incidents.
The attackers, according to the statement, vandalised Aali Intermediate Girls’ School, Al Munther Ibn Sawa Elementary Boys’ School, Al Khaleel Ibn Ahmed Intermediate Boys’ School and Sanabis Intermediate Boys’ School.
“In some areas, the attackers broke into schools, while in other areas they hurled stones and Molotov cocktails at the facilities, causing severe damages,” the statement said.
As many as 561 public schools were attacked in the Kingdom in the past six years.
The minister said that the “disgraceful acts” were aimed at preventing students from obtaining their inherent right of education, contrary to the principles of the Islamic religion and all international conventions and humanitarian norms.
