Complaint lodged against Al Wasat
Manama : Information Affairs Ministry has lodged a complaint to the Public Prosecution against Al Wasat, two weeks after the ministry suspended the paper for its “illegal practices”.
Sources confirmed that the complaint was received by the Public Prosecution yesterday and that legal procedures are being taken to refer the case to court.
The ministry had suspended the newspaper on June 4 until further notice, following “the paper’s recurrent violation of the law and spreading what would stir divisions within the community and undermine the Kingdom of Bahrain’s relations with other countries”.
The decision came one day after a columnist criticised the political conditions in Morocco. “The newspaper published a column on page 19 of yesterday’s edition that included a defamation of a sisterly Arab country,” the ministry stated back then.
