Supreme Court upholds sentence in fraud case

ManamaA Bahraini man accused in connection with a fraud case had his five-year imprisonment upheld by the Supreme Appeals Court. 

The defendant is said to have stolen wallet that contained a licence card as well as BD240. He pocketed the money and headed to a rental car shop located on the Exhibition Road, where he used the license to lease a vehicle. He used the car for two days before he abandoned it in Shakhura village. He was arrested after the man whose wallet was robbed filed a complaint against him. He was charged with fraud and robbery. 

He appealed the initial verdict, but the Supreme Appeals Court rejected it because he filed it after the expiry of the deadline.
