‘Nasser 10’ tournament closing ceremony held
Manama : HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), stressed that Nasser bin Hamad Ramadan Sports Games “Nasser 10” witnessed close and constant follow-up by HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, since its launch in 2007 and until its 10th anniversary this year.
This came in a speech delivered by Shaikh Nasser during the closing ceremony of “Nasser 10”, held at Sofitel Hotel, in the presence of a number of Their Highnesses, Excellencies, Ministers, senior officials, representatives of the sponsoring companies and media outlets as well as many VIPs and guests.
Shaikh Nasser underlined HM the King’s support and interest in the event were the main contributors to the success of the tournament, which came in line with the directives and vision of HM the King to provide youth platforms and various programmes to be able to attract young people and steer their energies towards the process of construction and upgrade.
“In 2007, the Nasser bin Hamad tournament embarked on a journey to embrace the Bahraini youth in a distinguished football tournament, which has included supplying Bahraini football with talents and passed through many excellent development stages that made it one of the most famous and best events at the regional level,”Shaikh Nasser added.
“The tournament witnessed a new and significant leap in its eighth anniversary with the addition of various team games besides football with the aim was to expand the base. To spread its objectives to cover all sports in Bahrain,” Shaikh Nasser continued.
Shaikh Nasser also noted the efforts of various ministries, governmental agencies, sponsoring companies and the role of the media making the event a success.
The closing ceremony was hosted by popular MBC channel presenter Hind bu Meshmar, a documentary of the Football Final match between Gunners United and Al Fakhar was featured along with archival photos of the tournament. Shaikh Nasser presented awards to representatives of ministries and government offices, newspapers and magazines, Chairman of the High Organising Committee of Nasser 10, Tawfiq Al Salehi who is also the Director of Shaikh Nasser’s media office and Abdulrahman Askar, the General Secretary of the Bahrain Olympic Committee and the winning teams with their medals and cups.
At the end of the event, Shaikh Nasser received various souvenirs as a token of appreciation for his contribution to the success of the event.
