2017 eGovt Excellence Award nomination deadline extended
Manama : The Organising Committee of the eGovernment Excellence Award 2017 – held under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Information & Communication Technology (SCICT) – has announced that the nomination period and registration of work was extended to July 13.
The extension aims to provide more time for entities wishing to participate and improve their submitted work as well as present it at its best, the committee said.
Participants may submit their work on the award’s official website which contains all the details associated with the categories, criteria and method of registering work online.
Held annually under the patronage of the Deputy Prime Minister as one of the initiatives which aim at valuing national initiatives in the ICT field, it provides participants with the opportunity to assess their work by jury members who represent a group of local, regional and international experts who also own many years of experience in the ICT sector.
The jury’s diversity of specialisations ensures objectivity in the assessing mechanism and allows participants to develop their work as well as enhance it according to the latest IT advancements to strongly compete with similar projects in a rapidly evolving sector.
Information & eGovernment Authority Enterprise Architecture & Information Technology Director as well as Award’s Organising Committee Chairman Dr. Khalid Ahmed Al Mutawah said that during the past eight years, the award was able to create a local weight for itself amongst interested individuals and entities working in the IT sector.
“This is especially since government entities have been demanding to hold such an award as the honouring of entities reflects the quality of work and possession of local faculties capable of professionally dealing with technology to become involved in providing government services which benefits a large number of audiences,” he
said.
“Based on these requests, the award is being held this year in its ninth edition and nomination period has been extended so as to enable these entities to provide their work in the best manner that meets all the requirements.”
Entities can register in various categories - Government Awards categories comprise ‘Best eGovernment Website’, ‘Best Government-to-Government eService’, ‘Best Practice in Community eParticipation’, and ‘Best eGovernment Integrated Services for Individuals or Businesses’.
Multi Sectors Awards categories encompass ‘Best Application for Smart Devices’; combined with Citizen Awards categories of both ‘Best eConcept’ and ‘eCitizen’ which reflects the extent of the public’s confidence in the eServices presented by the Information & eGovernment Authority based on a large number of transactions conducted electronically by winners along with the large amounts of payments paid online as service fees.
HH Shaikh Mohammed will honour the winners.
