139 killed, 100 injured in Pakistan tanker fire; Bahrain expresses support

Manama : Bahrain yesterday condoled the loss of lives in an oil tanker accident in Pakistan’s Punjab province, which claimed the lives of at least 139 people and injured scores.  

The Kingdom, in a statement, expressed its deep-felt condolences to the Pakistani government and the victims’ families, wishing the injured a speedy
recovery.

The Foreign Ministry affirmed support to the Pakistani government and people in this painful incident.

According to officials, the horrific early morning tragedy came hours before Pakistan was due to begin Eid al-Fitr celebrations. 

The tanker carrying 40,000 litres of fuel overturned on a main highway while travelling from Karachi to Lahore, near the town of Ahmedpur East in Punjab province.
