Court ruling upheld

ManamaThe High Criminal Appeals Court as upheld the sentence issued against a teenager convicted of assaulting  countryman. Ironically, the defendant pelted his victim with a concrete block for ‘staring at him’, for which he received three months behind bars.

The victim said that he saw the defendant standing beside his home. And, because he was not living in his neighbourhood, he asked him why he was there. The 19-year-old did not answer, and he assaulted the man as he was about entering his house.

He assaulted him with a concrete block and fled the scene. However, the teenager was later arrested after police combed the area as the victim was admitted to a hospital with profuse head bleeding. The defendant told prosecutors that he assaulted his victim to avenge the terrible looks he gave him.

“He saw me once before the day of the attack, and he suspiciously stared at me. I got very angry with this, and I wanted to revenge him. I went to his house at three after midnight because I watched him for several days and I knew when he returns to his house,” the teenager said.  Police officers discovered that the defendant was on drugs and was found guilty in three separate cases.
