Ministry to hold awareness seminar on safe summer

ManamaThe Ministry of Labour & Social Development is organising an awareness seminar for the labourers in coordination with the Embassy of India, Pakistan, Nepal, Philipines and Bangladesh to Bahrain. 

The awareness seminar is to be held under the patronage Undersecretary of Labour & Social Development on Saturday at the Bahrain Keraleya Samajam (BKS) from 5:30 pm until 7:00 pm.

The seminar is to spread the awareness to a healthy and safe summer for the labourers and prevent any kind of accidents or diseases. 

 “It is our constant effort to reduce the burden of the labourers in the Kingdom and this seminar is one of our initiative to spread awareness and prevent any kind of accidents in the near future,” Hussain Al Hussaini, Senior Occupational Safety Engineer of Ministry of Labour and Social Development told DT News.

“We have been doing this for the past five years and through this seminar, we are trying to make the labourers aware of all the diseases that they could face in the summer like heat stroke or sunburn or the diseases they might not be aware of, moreover provide them with preventive measures on reducing occupational accident.”

“Two lectures will be delivered during the seminar, one of them will be on the heat stress while the other will be on the implementation of work ban campaign. In addition, the seminar will also provide medical check-up related to summer diseases in the presence of the team of doctors and nurse from various hospitals. Also, a number of multi-lingual awareness leaflets will be distributed during this seminar.” 

“We want to inform the employees to not violate the work ban of Ministerial order No. (3) as per article No. (192) in Bahrain Labour law. Working during noon time under direct sun rays and open areas from 12 to 4 pm in July and August will invite a penalty against the offender which will be imprisonment for a period not exceeding three months, and a fine not less than BD500 to BD1000 for each worker violating the law,” Al Hussaini added.
