Tailor acquitted in groping case
A tailor accused of sexually abusing a woman was acquitted due to lack of proof. He was tried before the High Criminal Court, which said “contradictory” statements from the victim lead to the acquittal.
The woman alleged the Asian suspect groped her private parts while taking measurements of her body.
“I went to the shop to stitch a dress. But as he was taking the measurements, he groped my breast. And when he went behind me he touched my buttocks,” she said in her statement.
“My heart skipped a beat, but I didn’t do anything. I went straight to my mother and told her what had happened,” she added.
The Asian accused, however, denied the allegation, stressing no one has so far come with such a complaint in his 14-year-long tenure as a tailor.
“She (the victim) is a regular customer and comes every summer to buy school uniform. I took the measurements, and she left. That’s it,” he said in his statement.
The High Criminal Court termed the incident unimaginable based on the statements given by the woman when delivering its ruling.
