Hotline launched to report stray dogs

ManamaA hotline has been launched to report stray dogs problems within residential areas, the Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry announced yesterday.

The ministry urged citizens and residents to report any cases by calling 34325639 during official working hours (Sunday to Thursday between 7:30 am and 2:15 pm) or by sending an SMS with details of the case on the same number during off duty hours.

“The hotline has been launched to tackle the issue of stray dogs within the residential areas. This comes to enhance the means to keep these animals away from residential areas in coordination with municipal councils and the related authorities,” the statement read.

The statement further said that the ministry is continuing its efforts to combat the stray dogs’ phenomenon and that launching the hotline would contribute to eradicating the issue.

As reported earlier, stray dogs have become an issue mainly in residential areas in the Northern, Capital and Muharraq governorates, where it had attacked residents and pets, causing injuries and losses. Hundreds of complaints were also lodged.
