Garden show theme announced

ManamaFood Safety and Human Health will be the theme of the Bahrain International Garden Show 2018, it was announced yesterday. 

Announcing the decision at a press conference held at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre, Shaikha Maram Bint Isa Al Khalifa, Secretary-General of NIAD told DT News, “The upcoming show will focus on the safety of foods that meet international quality standards, starting from the production stage, to storage and processing until the food product reaches the consumer’s table”.

“Each year, the show highlights a theme that is critical to the field and showcases information and best practices to improve existing systems, as well as alternative methods and solutions that contribute to the growth of the agricultural sector in the Kingdom.

“The show continued to grow and develop over the past years, as its exhibiting area reached more than 7,000 square meters,” Shaikha Maram added. The last show witnessed more than 45,000 visitors and 155 exhibitors.

The 2018 edition of the show will be held at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre from 22nd to 25th February 2018 under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and continued support of Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of the King of Bahrain and President of the Consultative Council for the National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD).

The event will be organised by National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD). 

Zahra Abdulmalik, chairperson of the Bahrain Garden Club, said, “We are continually working on providing farmers and garden enthusiasts with comprehensive information about diseases and pests that harm plants and how to combat them properly, as well as encourage them to utilize small areas within their houses for agricultural purposes in modern and innovative ways.”

The exhibits 

Hall 1 -The Marketplace- will be dedicated to the marketing of various agricultural products such as flowers, plants, agricultural tools, pots, garden furniture, machinery, lighting equipment and all agricultural products and services. 

Hall 2 will be dedicated for raising awareness and education. It will include both official and educational institutions and civil society organisations. It will showcase their services, programmes, and latest agricultural innovations.
