Newborn baby found abandoned outside a mosque

Manama : A newborn baby girl was found abandoned outside a mosque in Saar, early morning yesterday.

The infant was discovered outside the ladies entrance of the Imam Ali Mosque.

The tiny baby is now being treated at the Paediatric ward of the Salmaniya Medical Complex.

“We found the baby girl at about 4am near the ladies entrance and she might have spent a few hours there before being discovered,” a source told DT News.

“We asked around whose child was it, but when no one turned up.

“We then called the Budaiya police station and informed them about the situation,” the source said.

The baby was taken to the Salmaniya Medical Complex by the police team who reached the scene immediately.

“The police came with an ambulance and took the child away,” the source added.

This is also the second case in about few months time where parents have abandoned their newborn.

In March, a 34-year-old woman was caught by the police for dumping her newborn in a restroom in the Bahrain International Airport.

After dumping the baby, the woman, on her way back to Indonesia, travelled to Dubai.

The dead infant was found wrapped in the bin by the cleaners at a restroom in the departure hall.
