Man on trial for sheltering convicts
Manama : The High Criminal Court began yesterday hearing the case of a man accused of sheltering two men convicted of terrorism, one of whom was sentenced to life.
The 39-year-old Bahraini man was captured after police received a tip-off that he was hiding the pair in his house in East Aker.
According to court files, the defendant offered the duo services including transportation and facilitated carrying out terrorist activities targeting police officers.
“I was sitting near my home when a man driving a car approached me and requested me to provide accommodation,” the man told prosecutors.
“I accepted because my wife wasn’t there at home, as she was staying in her family house,” he added.
One of the men who was sentenced to life was nicknamed “Bacteria”, as per the court records. The 39-year-old man’s case was adjourned until October 5 for review.
