STEEB to be an annual event
Manama : Solar Technology Energy and Environment in Bahrain Expo (STEEB), the first-ever event on Solar energy organized by a private company in Bahrain, will be an annual event, organizers confirmed yesterday.
Organizers of the event, Arab Gate Expos, said they are committed to continuous efforts to develop the solar sector of Bahrain. According to the organisers, the events would help Bahrain solar sector boom and help the nation become a hub for solar technologies. The event will be held at Bahrain International Exhibition & Convention Centre from September 17 to 19. CEO of Arab Gate Expos Amira AlHassan told DT News she hopes to make Bahrain a ‘meeting place’ for solar technology based companies.
“This is going to be first event of its kind and we are greatly excited. Bahrain is a great place to have as a hub for solar technologies because of the geographical advantages. The amount of sunlight this region is exposed to means that it can take great leaps in solar technologies,” she said.
“At Arab Gate Expos we are greatly encouraged by the support from the Ministry of Energy for this conference,” she added.
Exhibition advisor of Arab Gate Expos Mahesh Bhatia said, “We are having this exhibition because the government is keen to promote solar energy and sustainable development in this country. Bahrain has an advantage because we have huge markets around us such as Saudi Arabia.”
“The event will be a great opportunity to educate the public about solar energy and sustainable development and why sustainable development is necessary. We will be having 20 speakers, many of them international speakers,” he added.
“Big companies will be attending the conference and since we have an investment forum we will see investments to Bahrain as well as Bahraini companies making deals with the visiting companies. This is going to be an annual event, after this year’s edition, the next event is going to be in April 2018. This is a much needed conference and this is the right time to do this because the government is also working towards sustainable development,” he said.
The event will be held under the patronage of Energy Minister Dr. Abdul Hussain bin Ali Mirza.
