Bahrain Bourse lists BD125m Ijara securities

Manama : Bahrain Bourse announced yesterday the listing of the Government Islamic Lease (Ijara) Securities (sukuk) – Issue No. 24. 

The securities were listed by the CBB on behalf of the Government of Bahrain through registered brokers at Bahrain Bourse.  The sukuk will be traded under the symbol GILS24.SUK starting today.

The BD125 million sukuk is issued at a par value of BD1 each on 17th July 2017 for a period of 3 years ending on 17th July 2020. The annual fixed return on these securities is 4.20 per cent, and will be paid every six months on 17th July and 17th January every year throughout the period of this
issue.

As of Monday, investors will be able to sell and buy the sukuk by placing their orders through the brokers who will feed them into the trading system. The system will automatically match the orders in accordance to the price priority then time priority, with a minimum of BD400 per transaction in the primary market.

Following the listing of this issue, the number of conventional bonds and sukuk issues listed on BHB reached 14 issues with an approximate total value of US$6.416 billion.
